Vase theme – ‘Flower Power’
All Saints Anglican Church is proud to be hosting its eighth annual Daffodil Show. Over its short life the show has gained an enviable reputation with professional growers and the local community alike. The flowers are fabulous and entry is free. The weekend of 15 & 16 September will see All Saints Church and Hall bedecked in the glorious colours of daffodils.
Come and learn about growing, breeding and showing daffodils, visit the church and our beautiful gardens. In All Saints see one of All Saints historic stained glass windows being restored during the show by Churchhill Scholar Gavin Merrington. With a little luck Gavin might even let you help.
Family entertainment abounds: Zoodoo Petting Zoo, face painting, Treasure hunt, bubble blowing, kids’ craft, a Garden Market, The Jesse Tree (All Saints Op Shop), cakestall, hot food and morning & afternoon tea with homemade fare. There will also be live music on the grass: Jounce (celtic ensemble), the Hobart Old Time String Band, Sisongke Community Choir and Marigolden and organ recitals in the church both days. Lots to see, do and eat!
The Daffodil Show includes Community Classes for young and old ranging from a simple arrangement of garden flowers, to photography, original artwork and colouring-in. Budding artists of all ages are encouraged to either colour-in an original line drawing by Rod Barwick or create their own work.
Bring your fur baby with you Sunday afternoon to the ‘Blessing of the Pets’ in the garden at 2pm.
Schedules are available from The Jesse Tree at All Saints Church, South Hobart and below.
Prizes will be awarded for winning entries in all Community and Standard classes. Exhibitors are encouraged to use their imagination with the vase theme for this year’s show which is Flower Power (think rainbows).
So dust off your vases, riffle through the cupboards for that fabulous vase you just haven’t been able to part company with, pick some flowers from your garden and arrange them at the show. Above all, be prepared to enjoy yourselves!
Be a part of this wonderful community event which supports the development of the All Saints Garden, a quiet oasis in the heart of South Hobart.
